By combining adaptive memory foams with pre-shaped thermoplastic inserts and an Ortholite footbed, the AST - Adaptive Shape Technology adapts the Sulfur to the precise shape of each foot. Designed around an anatomical last, the Sulfur is equipped with the Edge Frame echnology and a Vibram® Megagrip™ outsole with climbing zone to enhance its climbing performance.
The Edge Frame Plate placed above the midsole provides stiffness and support while climbing, still allowing the shoe to flex freely when walking. The result: climbing performance meets hiking walkability. The longitudinal elements promote stiffness and torsional rigidity at the toe and midfoot. The cut-out crossway arrangements allow for more flex in the metatarsal area.
The midsole is made with two different densities. The softer EVA compound at the heel provides cushioning and ground adaptability, to guarantee optimal comfort when walking. The midsole and outsole are designed with a front-rockered profile to promote a smoother heel-to-toe transition, to walk longer with a higher level of comfort.
